Glenn Heights council advances spring and summer community events, approves All‑Abilities Easter concept

Blackwell said staff will finalize dates and locations and coordinate vendors and third‑party partners.
Councilwoman Shontay Allen proposed an All‑Abilities Easter egg hunt at Heritage Park on April 4 from 10:00–11:00 a.m. with separate lanes and staggered start times so children with mobility or sensory differences could participate: one lane for children who can run or walk, a raised‑table lane accessible to wheelchairs, and a slow/assisted option with staff help. "So what I am proposing here, again, is really just to give every child the opportunity to play," Allen said. She recommended registration to manage numbers and allow families to choose accessibility options.
Council members discussed extending event hours to support vendors, tracking neighborhood rotations for Connect events, soliciting more volunteers, and reallocating funds to expand the sunset concert series. Council reached consensus to place the proposed events, including the All‑Abilities program, on the calendar and asked staff to coordinate particulars and notify council when plans are finalized.
