Vendor presents inclusive playground concepts for Heritage Park

"We have done some research when it comes to what needs to be added in the area of Heritage Park ... specifically a 3‑mile radius of Heritage Park," Acosta said, adding that the company's demographic analytics inform design choices.
Acosta highlighted inclusive features such as transfer platforms that enable children in mobility devices to traverse higher play decks and an Aventis Tower used in a McKinney project that reaches 12 feet and allows independent transfer from mobility devices. She also discussed adult fitness equipment, splash pad possibilities, and a nontraditional challenge‑course ("ninja warrior" style) as options to create a destination playground. Acosta emphasized that the materials and data used for the presentation are proprietary and that the firm had not prepared cost estimates; she described the presentation as preliminary.
Mayor Brown and other council members thanked Acosta for the detailed presentation. No procurement action was taken at the meeting; staff and council will consider the concepts and may return with cost estimates and a formal recommendation at a later date.
