Sheriff reports 2,306 calls in 2025, training approvals and equipment needs

Sheriff Roger Hutchinson told commissioners that his office responded to 2,306 calls for service in calendar year 2025 and updated the Board on the department’s personnel training and equipment needs. Hutchinson said the county’s HIPAA (noted in the minutes as “HIPPA”) and Defensive Driving trainings were approved for POST credit and that Julie Vetter, the county HR consultant, will present the HIPAA training.
Hutchinson outlined equipment requirements including body cameras, replacement radios and computer docking stations; he reported the 2021 and 2023 patrol vehicles have been in for repairs. At the Feb. 17 meeting Hutchinson told the Board the department radios have been programmed on the new SIRN system but three radios remain problematic and likely need replacement at about $7,500 each; commissioners approved purchasing one replacement radio at this time by unanimous vote.
