Devon Cote and Kyle Klapper, representing the Hillsboro Airport Authority, asked the Traill County Commission to postpone the possessory interest tax on airport hangars, saying owners were not aware the tax had been applied. Tax Director Kayla Knudson advised that applications for tax exemptions or abatements must first be reviewed by the township board and that Cote and Knudson will follow up on next steps.
The commission received the request as correspondence and no formal county action was recorded in the minutes at the Jan. 6 meeting. The minutes indicate that the airport representatives and the tax director will coordinate next steps regarding possible exemptions or abatements.
