Traill County names chairman, vice-chair and assigns 2026 portfolios

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Traill County Commissioners appointed Kurt Elliott as chairman and Ken Nesvig as vice-chair for 2026 and approved portfolio assignments covering courthouse, roads, sheriff/jail and other duties.
The Traill County Commissioners convened Jan. 6, 2026, and on motions carried during the meeting appointed Kurt Elliott as chairman for 2026 and Ken Nesvig as vice-chair. Commissioner Larry Young moved to appoint Elliott; Ken Nesvig seconded the motion, which the board carried. Commissioner Thomas Eblen moved to appoint Nesvig vice-chair; Commissioner Larry Young seconded and the motion carried.
The board also approved the 2026 commissioner portfolios. The assignments recorded by the commission place Thomas Eblen on Courthouse duties; Kurt Elliott on Sheriff/Jail; Les Amb on Road matters; Larry Young as Veterans Service Officer; Kurt Elliott and Ken Nesvig sharing Economic Development Council duties; and Larry Young as the county’s Housing Authority contact. These portfolio assignments were approved on a motion by Commissioner Young, seconded by Commissioner Eblen.
