NWCEP asks Price County for loan relief; committee approves $5,000 payment-plan amendment to Res. 18-24

Skylar Dural-Eyder, executive director of the Northwest Wisconsin Concentrated Employment Program (NWCEP), told the Price County Executive Committee the organization has seen state and federal funding declines while demand for its services has increased. "NWCEP acknowledged the $5,000.00 loan and was fully prepared to repay the loan in full if required; however, the service provider respectfully requested loan relief from the Price County Board," Dural-Eyder said during the Jan. 15 presentation.

Committee members discussed options including outright forgiveness, a structured payment plan, and changing NWCEP's county status from a service provider to a community partner. On a motion by Supervisor Jeff Hallstrand, seconded by Supervisor Doug Erickson, the committee voted to set up a small, manageable payment plan for the $5,000 loan and to amend Resolution 18-24 (Provision of Short-term Financial Assistance to NWCEP). The motion passed.

The committee did not adopt full loan forgiveness; instead it approved a path to repayment designed to balance the county's fiscal oversight with support for the program. The committee did not specify payment dates or amounts in the minutes; the amended resolution will be revised consistent with the approved payment-plan direction and returned with the formal language to the County Board if required.
