Commissioners approve White Earth approach and final Gratech payment, ask NDDOT to recheck funding charge

Road & Bridge Superintendent Scott Duerre brought multiple construction items to the commissioners on Aug. 20, including a request to construct a missed approach in White Earth City and final contract actions for the CR 6 White Earth West project.
The board approved proposals from D&L Construction, Rinker Materials and Keller Paving totaling $15,111.52 to construct an approach to Lot 1, Block 7 in White Earth City (motion by Comm. DeGroot, seconded by Comm. Rice). The board also approved change order #3 decreasing Gratech's contract by $362,637.01 and approved Gratech's final pay application for $1,107,498.75 for the CR 6 project.
Duerre reported a NDDOT letter stating Project PM 2021 was on the reservation and therefore ineligible for 100% federal funding, creating a 19.07% county charge. State's Attorney Wade Enget described this as a mistake by NDDOT; the board approved drafting a letter to NDDOT asking why the county was being charged for reimbursement on Project PM 2021.
