Billings County RFPD staff are preparing a Forest Service grant application with a March 6 deadline to request funding for turnout gear, wildland jackets and other personal protective equipment. Chief Kyle Shockley told the board the application is in progress and is intended to address PPE needs across the district.
Separately, the board reviewed a written 2026 burn ban outline. The draft would start by following the regional Fire Index and be reviewed and adjusted as conditions evolve during 2026; the outline is awaiting formal approval at a future meeting.
