Claiborne County moves forward on HART planning grant, accepts $25,000 America250 award and commits match for ARC INSPIRE

The commission also accepted $25,000 from the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial Grant Program (Res. 2026-066) to support Claiborne County's America 250 July 4, 2026, events. Additionally, commissioners approved committing $30,000 in local match toward an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) INSPIRE planning grant to develop a "Recovery-Ready Workforce" planning model (Res. 2026-067), with $15,000 cash and $15,000 in-kind services noted in the resolution language.
All three measures were introduced by Commissioner Mitchell Cosby and recorded as passing with unanimous roll-call votes where noted. County officials said the HART grant requires a reimbursement accounting flow and reiterated that county staff would administer any awarded funds.
What happens next: County Mayor and designated officials are authorized to execute grant applications and agreements and to manage reimbursement reporting if awards are made.
