Daggett County commissioners approved preservation projects for the Manila and Dutch John airports during their Jan. 20 meeting.
Public works representative Bret Reynolds told the commission the Dutch John project is estimated at $250,000 and the Manila project at $200,000; each requires a 10% county match. Commissioner Jack Lytle moved to approve both projects, and the motion passed with Commissioners Matt Tippets, Randy Asay and Jack Lytle voting yes.
Reynolds described the scope as chiefly chip-sealing runways and related improvements to preserve existing facilities. The county will record the required local match in the budget process and follow the State’s grant instructions for next steps. Commissioners also discussed a proposed Dutch John weather station and decided to forgo that purchase temporarily.
The approval authorizes staff to move forward with the state-preserved project agreements and budgeting for the local match. No public opposition was recorded at the meeting.
