District explains eligibility and payout timing for state one-time bonuses

Shauna, presenting the payroll implications of the new state measures, told the committee that one-time bonus eligibility is tied to employment dates and that all payments must be processed by Oct. 31. "16 plus years will get 1000 dollar 1 time payment, and 0 to 15 will get 500," she said, describing the two-tiered structure the General Assembly adopted.
Shauna said school nutrition and custodial staff were placed in a separate category and that bonuses for some noncertified staff would be calculated differently; she added that the payments are not retirement-eligible and will be issued as separate check runs. Committee members asked when the district would receive state allotments; Shauna said DPI initial allotments had begun but final allocations may not be guaranteed until closer to mid-August, and noted the October eligibility date prevents earlier payment.
