Wheat Ridge council awards $305,942 residential concrete contract to LG Contractors

The Wheat Ridge City Council voted unanimously to award a contract to LG Contractors for the 2026 residential concrete program, approving a base bid of $278,129.25 and a contingency of $27,812.93 for a total authorized amount of $305,942.18.
Public Works Director Kisleman told the council the annual maintenance program focuses on Zone 3 and includes five ADA ramps and six speed humps in addition to trip-hazard sidewalk repairs. “This year’s program will be in Zone 3,” Kisleman said, and staff recommended approval of the contract after receiving nine bids and checking references. Councilor Patrick Quinn moved the award; Councilor Scott Ohm seconded. The clerk recorded “8 ayes, no nays.”
Councilors asked about funding sources, warranty and inspection. Kisleman said the work being approved is funded from the city’s 2J allocation for this year, that neighborhood traffic-calming elements have separate CIP line items, and that the city expects a two-year workmanship warranty and routine inspections during and after construction. Quinn raised concerns about contractor labor models and the use of independent 1099 workers on public contracts; Kisleman said staff reviews responsiveness, checks references and enforces inspection and warranty requirements.
The contract award begins procurement steps for the 2026 maintenance season; staff will oversee inspections, warranty enforcement and coordination with community development for traffic-calming program items.
