On Feb. 25 the Washington County Commission authorized the issuance of general obligation refunding bonds under Resolution 26-02-19 and approved an amendment to increase the county's contract with FEMA consultant IEM under Resolution 26-02-20. Commissioner Richard Tucker moved both measures; Commissioner Ben Carder seconded the bond resolution and Commissioner Jodi Jones seconded the IEM contract increase. Both items passed on roll-call votes with all present commissioners recorded as voting in favor.
The bond authorization provides the county authority to issue refunding bonds in one or more series and establishes terms, sale provisions and tax-levy provisions to pay principal, premium and interest. The meeting minutes do not specify series sizes, interest rates, or a refunding schedule; county finance staff will have the detailed financing plan and timeline.
