Washington County Commissioners voted Feb. 25 to authorize capital-project spending of up to $350,000 in fiscal year 2026 for water-line projects in certain unincorporated areas. The measure, Resolution 26-02-12, was amended on the floor to replace the Chuckey Utility District with the Johnson City Water Department before adoption by roll-call vote with all present commissioners voting in favor.
The change was proposed as an amendment by Commissioner Jim Wheeler and adopted on an all-yes voice vote; Commissioner Josh Edens then moved to adopt the amended resolution. The resolution authorizes county capital-project fund spending of up to $350,000 in FY26 for work described in the measure. No dissenting votes were recorded; three commissioners were absent.
