County Treasurer Mercy Denker presented the Roscommon County investment policy required under Public Act 20 of 1943 and asked the board to approve the policy and designate official depositories for 2026.
Denker summarized the policy objectives — safety of principal, diversification, liquidity and acceptable return — and described current investments (certificates of deposit, savings accounts and pooled Michigan CLASS funds). "Our objectives with this investment policy is 1st is always a safety of the county money, diversification of our funds ... Liquidity ... and then lastly, we look at the return on the investment," Denker said. The board approved Resolution 2026‑01‑01 and voted to designate Chase Bank, CIBC, Michigan CLASS, North Central Area Credit Union, Huntington Bank, Mercantile Bank, Horizon Bank, Private Bank and MILAF as official depositories.
The resolution delegates investment authority to the county treasurer as allowed by statute and requires financial intermediaries to acknowledge the county policy when executing trades.
