East Washtenaw Community Recreation Center nearing construction phase, county says

Parks and Recreation reported the East Washtenaw Community Recreation Center remains on a $49 million budget: construction manager hired, design-development plans delivered, preliminary operation staffing planned and groundbreaking expected in early fall.
Parks and Recreation Executive Director Megan Bonfiglio updated the board on the East Washtenaw Community Recreation Center project. She said the $49,000,000 estimate remains the guiding budget and that design-development plans were delivered for owner review; a construction project manager (Brad Sharp) will begin next week to help finalize the construction details.
Bonfiglio said Clark Construction (construction team) and Newman Smith (architect) are preparing updated cost estimates and that preliminary non-motorized trail work funded by a TAP grant is underway. She said the department will request authorization in August to create a facility superintendent position for day-to-day operations and anticipates a groundbreaking event in September or October.
