Washtenaw commissioners welcome Eastern Michigan University president Brendan Kelly

He said transformation in higher education is necessary to create opportunity for students and to build regional quality of life.
Commissioners representing Eastern Michigan praised Kelly’s return to the university and highlighted shared priorities. Commissioner Somerville, who identified herself as an EMU alum, thanked Kelly and noted his focus on both students and faculty. Kelly offered to return periodically to report on progress and said he hoped those updates would help align university programs with county needs.
