Commission approves $500 quitclaim offer for Catfish Road parcel

The Henry County Commission approved Resolution 4-9-24 on Sept. 16 authorizing the County Mayor to accept a $500 plus closing-costs offer from William Cody Barker for a delinquent-tax parcel in the Catfish Road–Cobanna subdivision (Control Map 023B, Parcel 021.00). Commissioner Paul Neal made the motion and Commissioner Kenneth Humphreys seconded; the motion carried 15–0.
As with other delinquent-tax sales recorded at the meeting, the resolution directs the mayor to publish notice of the conditional acceptance and allow the statutory competing-bid period described in Tenn. Code Ann. §67-5-2507. The recorded offer form in the meeting packet includes a $500 deposit, a 90-day irrevocability period and standard "as is, where is" quitclaim language with exceptions for recorded easements and indemnity provisions. The Delinquent Tax Committee recommended acceptance of the minimum offer subject to publication and the opportunity for higher bids.
