Jacob Hagan of AgriVia presented a scaled‑back version of a 2017 plan to address downstream drainage issues in Drainage District 61. The proposal called for removing trees along the ditch bank, pulling side slopes back to a 2:1 slope, and removing islands within the channel. Hagan reported an estimated project cost of $404,625.
Gary Armstrong, the district's drainage attorney, outlined legal and organizational options for implementation, saying landowners could consider annexing acres into Drainage District 61 or pursuing formation of a separate district south of the DD 61 main open ditch. Several landowners and stakeholders were listed as present for the informational meeting. The board took no action on the proposal during the Jan. 20 session.
