The Palo Alto County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 3 approved hiring Jillian Myers as a full‑time jailer on the recommendation of County Sheriff John King. The hire is effective Feb. 3, 2026 at a starting rate of $21.97 per hour.
Under the approved motion (moved by Craig Merrill and seconded by Ron Graettinger), Myers will receive a wage increase after six months of probation and upon completion of 40 hours of jail certification to match the pay of other full‑time jailers. The motion carried with ayes from Merrill, Graettinger, Keith Wirtz and Chair Linus Solberg; Supervisor Roger Faulstick was absent.
