Officials report lifted evacuations, warn on air quality and 'new normal' for affected communities

Joshua Johnson said several pre-evacuation zones north of Highway 78 were lifted as of 10:00 a.m., but warned the fire remains active and that neighboring counties have begun additional evacuations as the incident approaches county lines. He described air-quality monitors placed near Beulah that showed hazardous readings, at times "3 or 400," and said officials are continuing to prioritize safety as firefighters and aircraft conduct operations.
Speakers also addressed the emotional and social toll of recovery. A state official and county staff warned residents that the "new normal" after a disaster can mean lost businesses and homeowners who choose not to rebuild, and urged sensitivity to those changes while preparing realistic plans for recovery and return.
