Pueblo County seeks grant to hire recovery and resilience manager

County emergency management presented a proposal to create a recovery and resilience manager position to lead long-term recovery and convene a permanent recovery group.
Joshua Johnson told commissioners he compiled a job description from other Colorado jurisdictions and said a grant application has been submitted to county legal for review; the application would, if approved, pay an estimated 75% of the salary in year one, 50% in year two and 25% in year three. Johnson said the grant approval process through the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) is being treated as an emergency process and may take roughly two weeks for a decision.
Johnson said the recovery manager position would be housed within county emergency management and would oversee the recovery assistance center, coordinate voluntary organizations and manage long-term recovery projects. He asked the board to consider placing the grant application on the upcoming Thursday agenda to permit the county to apply for funding and begin hiring the position.
