The Carlton County Board set the minimum salary for the County Sheriff at $130,686.40 (Grade 250 Step 1) and for the County Attorney at $139,401.60 (Grade 260 Step 1) in Resolution 26-008, as required prior to the filing period for those offices under Minnesota law. The motion was made by Zmyslony, seconded by Bodie, and carried by all yea votes.
The board also adopted Resolution 26-009, which bars county officials or employees who directly influence contracting from having a financial interest in county contracts or from accepting gifts or rebates from contractors; the resolution further restricts county representatives from serving on outside boards that contract with the county without express written consent. Finally, Resolution 26-010 awarded legal publications for 2026 to the Moose Lake Star Gazette and Pine Knot News in combination at $15.00 per standard advertising unit for Commissioners’ Proceedings and other notices.
