At its Jan. 26, 2026 meeting the Carlton County Board approved multiple economic development actions: a $250,000 loan to LFD Holdings, LLC d/b/a Edward Jones at 4% interest with a ten-year payback; a $200,000 zero-percent loan to the City of Wrenshall with a ten-year payback; and a professional services agreement with North Country Strategies, LLC (Dave Lislegard) for consulting and lobbying services at $5,000 per month from Feb. 1, 2026 to Jan. 31, 2027. Each motion passed unanimously.
The motions were recorded separately: Commissioner Zmyslony moved the LFD loan and the Wrenshall loan was moved by Commissioner Zmyslony and seconded by Commissioner Bodie. The North Country Strategies contract was moved by Commissioner Plante Buhs and seconded by Commissioner Reed. The minutes record amounts, interest terms, and effective dates; loan documents and the consulting contract are on file with the county economic development office.
