Multiple residents used the public-comment period to raise neighborhood and downtown concerns.
Sergio O'Neil reported that a dispute involving a youth marching group had been resolved, thanked staff and urged continued attention to London Oaks. Sherman Tyler praised police hiring and asked council for visible outreach to grieving families and neighborhoods affected by violence. David House described long-standing blight and zoning violations at a property he previously reported and said zoning and fire inspections had cited the site; staff said they would follow up. Alexandra Westfall from West Haven asked the council to reconsider reduced interior side-yard setback approvals, citing homeowner maintenance and safety concerns and urging case-by-case review to preserve neighborhood character.
Coleman Young urged the council to expedite a vendor operator selection for the pavilion to attract acts and enliven High Street; the city manager said the RFP will be released on August 15. Walter Carter reported diseased street trees adjacent to his property and said he declined to sign an agreement presented by parks staff; council and staff agreed to follow up and requested copies of the form. Council members asked staff to return with reports or next steps where appropriate.
