Carver County to begin township outreach and public engagement for 2050 comp plan; Social Pinpoint and pop‑ups planned

Staff outlined a suite of engagement methods: township meetings beginning in May, an online input platform (Social Pinpoint), pop‑up events at festivals and farmer’s markets, targeted surveys, and coordination with city outreach. County planners said they will coordinate with public works, parks, water management and other departments so input covers transportation, parks/trails and water resources as well as land use.
Planners noted the Met Council is offering a $110,000 noncompetitive grant and other incentive payments for early or enhanced submittals; staff intend to apply for the grant and potentially hire professional public‑engagement consultants to increase reach and representation, including young families and underrepresented groups. The board asked staff to share the township meeting schedule and to bring recommended county appointments for the Chaska library task force to upcoming meetings.
No policy decisions were made; staff will report back as township feedback is gathered and as Met Council resources are secured.
