Board approves multiple 2025 appropriation adjustments and narrows economic development promotion funding

During the Sept. 3 meeting, the Nobles County Board approved a slate of appropriation adjustments for the 2025 budget. Specific increases approved included $48,344 for Ambulance Services, $55,725 for ACE (RSVP), $10,000 for Manna Food Pantry and $3,000 for the Wind Energy Task Force; motions were moved and seconded as recorded in the minutes.
On economic development funding, a motion by Commissioner Robert S. Demuth to increase promotion funding by $25,000 failed for lack of a second. The board instead approved economic development/promotion funding at $20,000 for 2025 (motion by Commissioner Chris Dybevick, seconded by Commissioner Bob Paplow), with Commissioner Demuth recorded as voting against that action. The board also approved a $3,000 decrease to the Small Business Development Center appropriation and an internship program increase request of up to $120,000.
