Nobles County board sets 12% preliminary levy for 2025 budget

Nobles County commissioners voted to accept a 12% Preliminary Levy for 2025, the not-to-exceed levy limit that the county must submit by Sept. 30, 2024. County staff had reported an earlier estimate of about an 11% increase; the board’s action sets a 12% ceiling for further budget work.
Commissioner Gene Metz moved to accept the 12% preliminary levy and Commissioner Bob Paplow seconded the motion. The preliminary levy establishes the maximum property-tax levy for 2025; subsequent budget adjustments may lower the levy but may not increase it beyond the submitted cap.
