Chris M. Meyer elected Winona County Board chair after 3–2 vote

The Winona County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Chris M. Meyer as board chair during its Jan. 13, 2026 meeting following a contested set of nominations. Commissioner Dwayne Voegeli moved to nominate Meyer and, after nominations were closed, the motion electing Meyer carried 3–2 (Yes – Voegeli, Meyer, Olson; No – Ward, Elsing). The board also selected a vice chair in the same session. Commissioner Josh Elsing was nominated and approved as vice chair on a unanimous 5–0 vote.
