Volunteer fire departments receive approved blanket purchase requests and surplus actions
Summary
Throughout June the BOCC approved FY2026–27 fire-tax purchase blankets and a series of surplus/disposal resolutions for multiple VFDs, including purchase requests for medical supplies, fuel, and equipment.
Pontotoc County commissioners approved numerous volunteer fire department (VFD) fire-tax purchase requests, blanket orders and surplus/disposal resolutions during June 2026.
Approved blankets covered recurring costs such as fuel, utilities, medical supplies and equipment maintenance for Lula, Homer, Pickett, Vanoss, Fitzhugh, Roff, Oil Center and other VFDs. The board also approved multiple resolutions to list items as surplus and to dispose of or transfer equipment (for example, Union Valley and Oil Center VFD inventory actions were recorded with inventory numbers).
Commissioners voted on these items across the June meetings; votes were recorded as unanimous where noted. The actions enable VFDs to access recurring supplies and address equipment losses from prior storms and thefts.
