Chisago County, LID unveil $90,000 AIS grants program; application window set Feb. 1–March 1

Ben Elfelt and Madelyn Kinny introduced a joint 2026 Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Lake Association Grants Program funded with $70,000 from the County Board and a $20,000 supplement from the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District. Kinny said the grant application will open Feb. 1 and close March 1, 2026, and that County funds will not be rolled over or redistributed within this program.
Ashlee Ricci moved and Robert Klatt seconded a motion recommending grant funds be spent as allocated in Table 1: 2026 Treatment Grant and LID Supplement; the motion carried with eight votes in favor. The team directed staff to administer the program per the approved allocations and timelines.
