Policy Team discusses Lower St. Croix ordinance review and requests CWMP appendix updates

Barbara Heitkamp described the Lower St. Croix Watershed Partnership’s effort to strengthen local stormwater, wetland and shoreland ordinances to protect water resources amid growth and development. Heitkamp said consultants from Barr Engineering and Birchline Planning, LLC are reviewing the patchwork of city, county and township regulations, and local municipalities were invited to a February Planning Commission meeting to discuss next steps.
Dawn White said the Policy Team is more than five years into the 10-year Lower St. Croix Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan and requested a midpoint review focused on Appendix D. Emmons & Olivier Resources (EOR) has already incorporated many activities from the local appendix into its Groundwater Plan and offered assistance; updates are requested by the July Policy Team meeting for follow-up.
