Cass County backs $1.6M CSAH 13 resurfacing project, will apply for $1.4M STBGP funds

Cass County will seek federal Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP) funds to resurface County State-Aid Highway (CSAH) 13 (Onigum Road), the Board agreed on Jan. 6.
County Engineer Darrick Anderson presented the project and asked for a resolution of support for a 2030 STBGP application. He told commissioners the road connects Pine Point and Onigum residents to TH 200 and is reaching the point where a surface improvement is needed. Anderson said the "total project cost is estimated at $1.6 million, with a request of $1.4 million." The Board adopted Resolution No. 05-26 supporting the application and authorized the County Engineer to submit the STBGP application; the county indicated willingness to secure the local share and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
If funded, the resurfacing would require the county to guarantee the local match and oversee project completion in compliance with federal requirements; no final commitment of local funds was made at the Jan. 6 meeting pending the competitive grant outcome.
