Residents push for park maintenance, goat-head removal and shade at the pool

Several attendees urged the town to invest CDBG or other grant funds in park revitalization and ongoing maintenance. Maintenance volunteer Steven Sherwood proposed concrete picnic pads and a small ramp at picnic tables to improve safety and suggested targeted blacktop work when the town road crew is operating on Skyline.

Residents asked for goat-head weed removal and low-water landscaping to make parks more inviting and reduce puncture hazards for children and tires. Councilmember Geovona Thompson, residents and volunteers discussed volunteer efforts, pre-emergent treatments and possible retailer donations for materials, while SEAGO staff cautioned that routine maintenance is not typically a CDBG-eligible rehabilitation project unless tied to a slum-and-blight area designation with documented deterioration.
