Two residents told the Huachuca City Council that the crosswalk at the Circle K on Gonzales Boulevard is unsafe and is putting pedestrians at risk.
Lonnie Brock raised the issue in public comment, and Tami Ackerson said her daughter "was hit while using it properly," arguing that the crosswalk’s lights are not visible to drivers and asking the council to install a safer crossing. The council heard the comments during its Jan. 8 meeting and discussed next steps.
Mayor Johann R. Wallace acknowledged media attention to the crosswalk and said he anticipates a meeting with the Arizona Department of Transportation to discuss potential fixes. Councilmember reports also noted community concern and plans to follow up with staff and state partners.
