Adam Campbell, planner with VDOT’s Staunton District Office, presented an overview of a Route 55 Corridor safety study requested by Senator French, telling the Citizens Advisory Committee that traffic volume will be forecast to 2045 and that the study’s completion date is December 1 of this year.
Campbell said the study was commissioned to examine safety concerns residents raised and potential changes from an extension of Corridor H in West Virginia that could bring heavier truck traffic to the mountain-top approaches. The presentation prompted multiple questions and comments from committee members; Campbell took notes and described next steps for completing the data and analysis before the December 1 deadline.
