County signs state-funded jail behavioral-health amendment, continues public-health school partnership and lease

Administrator Herzog presented a state-funded jail-based behavioral-health services amendment designed to support screening, assessment, treatment and transition case management for inmates with substance-use and mental-health disorders. Herzog said the program provides drug screening and health assistance in the jail and that the amendment may add roughly $15,000 in additional funding; the board approved the contract amendment on a roll-call vote.
Herzog also presented a memorandum of understanding and associated lease for Teller County Public Health to maintain a 375-square-foot office (including an exam room and nurse's office) in Cripple Creek–Victor RE-1 schools for vaccinations and outreach. The lease specifies a monthly payment of $300 to the school district; commissioners approved both the MOA and the lease. County staff described the arrangement as longstanding and beneficial to outreach in the school district.
