Board funds summer 4‑H participation and hears schools performance update

Dr. Guindon requested approximately $30,000 annually to fund a part‑time state program educator (about 1,500 hours at $18/hour) to coordinate Sussex participation and counselors.
The board approved appropriating $12,000 for the summer of 2026 to support increased participation. Separately, Superintendent Julius Hamlin presented a brief update on changes to the Virginia Department of Education’s revised school performance rating system and provided the latest results for Sussex County Schools; no action was required on the school presentation.
