Xcel schedules vegetation management along Highway 50 circuit feeding Salida; company offers contact for local concerns

Xcel staff said one of the immediate measures the company is adding to improve reliability is vegetation management on the circuit that serves Salida and Poncha Springs along Highway 50. The work includes tree trimming and removal of shrubs near distribution conductors to create separation between vegetation and lines.
"I just got noticed on this call that we will soon have a vegetation management crew or crews doing tree trimming…on a circuit that feeds Salida all the way up to Poncha Springs," said Steve Rolstad. He asked county staff for a public-information contact so the company can notify the public and local businesses about the work.
County representatives raised a concern that an older, notable tree in town had been difficult to reach via company contacts; Xcel asked the county to pass along PIO contact details and offered to post a contact email in the meeting chat.
