Resident urges action on drain-assessment bills that can top six figures

Billig said he has contacted state representatives and is pursuing further appeals and reports. "All these negotiating and budget cuts and other major decisions you're making today, you're saying it's out of concern for the taxpayers. I would like to know where that concern was when these people were handed $50,000 and $60,000 drain bills," he said, asking the board to consider the human and financial toll of assessments on local families and farms.
