Wilkes County raises east-side T-hangar rent to $400 per month

The Wilkes County Board approved an amended Fee and Rent Schedule on Jan. 6 establishing a $400 monthly rate for newly constructed east-side T-hangar units at the Wilkes County Airport.
Airport Manager Dustin Caudill told the Board the east-side hangars include electricity, water and sewer, which differentiates them from the west-side units that provide electricity only; he said the east-side rate is compatible with rates at other North Carolina airports. "They’re full," Chairman Hardin C. Kennedy observed, noting the two new grant-funded hangars have existing tenants. Commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the new rate, which takes effect immediately and will apply to the tenants moving into those units.
Board members and staff said the increase aligns the east-side amenities with a higher rate than the $300–$350 charged on the west side, and that grant funds had paid for construction of the new units that are already leased.
