At a Chaffee County Airport Board meeting, a board member said a Denver firm that presented at the Colorado Airport Operators Conference offered to draft a proposal to edit the county's standard land lease and other documents. "They're gonna put together a proposal if we wanna use them for helping edit our land lease and getting it dialed in," the board member said.
Members discussed whether to use the newly hired county attorney or retain an outside specialist for lease redlines and compliance with FAA grant assurances. Board members agreed to circulate the current draft in a Google Doc to collect consolidated comments and then sit down with counsel to translate policy objectives into enforceable contract language. The board emphasized the need to preserve the county and city's control over airport property under federal grant-assurance requirements.
