At the Feb. 10 meeting the Wilkes County Board of Commissioners recorded several formal actions.
• Approval of minutes: A motion by Commissioner Casey Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Shirley Randleman, unanimously approved the January 20, 2026 minutes.
• FaithFest Management Agreement: Commissioner Shirley Randleman moved to approve the Management Agreement between Wilkes County and Craig Church Ministries for FaithFest and to give County Manager John Yates authority to sign the agreement; Commissioner Casey Johnson seconded and the motion was unanimously approved.
• Budget planning meeting: Commissioner Shirley Randleman moved to schedule a Budget Planning Meeting for Feb. 19, 2026 (dinner at 5:00 p.m., meeting at 5:30 p.m., Wilkes Agriculture Center); the motion passed unanimously.
• Change of meeting date: Commissioner Casey Johnson moved to change the March 3, 2026 regular meeting to Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.; Commissioner Bill Sexton seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
• Closed session: Commissioner Casey Johnson moved to go into closed session under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143‑318.11(a)(1) and § 143‑318.11(a)(3) to prevent disclosure of privileged information under Chapters §132, §143, and §153(a) and to consult with the board’s attorney to preserve attorney‑client privilege; Commissioner Bill Sexton seconded and the motion was unanimously approved. The board later voted unanimously to return to open session and adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
