Wilkes County schedules Feb. 19 budget planning meeting; regular March meeting moved to March 5

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners set a Budget Planning Meeting for Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, to discuss preparations for the 2026–2027 county budget. County Manager John Yates told the board that dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Wilkes Agriculture Center, 416 Executive Drive, Wilkesboro; Commissioner Shirley Randleman moved to set the meeting and the board approved unanimously.
Chairman Hardin Kennedy said the board needed to change the date of its regular March meeting because of the election calendar. Commissioner Casey Johnson moved to reschedule the March 3 meeting to Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at 110 North Street, Wilkesboro; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
