CLO CFO Karen Johnson to retire March 1; Matt Clarkson named to succeed

Secretary Dan Whitmarsh announced that Karen Johnson, the CLO’s CFO and Sr. Director, will retire effective March 1, 2026. Whitmarsh said Johnson has been with the agency 14 years and with the State of Oklahoma for 30 years, praised her institutional knowledge and service to beneficiaries, and relayed a message of gratitude from Johnson to the Commissioners.
Whitmarsh stated that Assistant Director Matt Clarkson (FSD) will take over the responsibilities. He summarized Clarkson’s background: a lifelong Oklahoman, product of Oklahoma City public schools, Oklahoma State University alumnus, with experience in public accounting, oil and gas, and state government (OMES since 2008), and joining CLO in 2022. The announcement was informational and no vote was required.
