County staff presented the Board with FY2027 strategies and goals at the March 5 work session. Nikki C. Edwards led the presentation, listing priorities: 911 stabilization and broadband; strategic planning for Emergency Medical Services; Baywood School; and economic development. Staff framed the list as a working document that the Board can expand during budget season.
Edwards and Clerk Stephen A. Boyer said staff are meeting with department heads to prepare budget submissions and that the next budget meeting is scheduled for April 2, 2026. Supervisor Michael B. Watson arrived during the presentation; staff emphasized that required local effort for schools is set by the state and that any local funds above the RLE may be designated by the county.
