Chair (S2) told the board that FEMA is reviewing the town's final adopted local hazard mitigation plan and that, after review, the town can submit for reimbursement for prior expenses.
"FEMA is reviewing our very final, adopted, local hazard mitigation plan. At that point, we can file for reimbursement, so we will get money this year from work we spent money on last year," Chair (S2) said. S2 said the reimbursement will likely create a modest surplus for the start of the next fiscal cycle but warned that FEMA reviews can take months.
Members discussed the uncertainty in FEMA timing and agreed staff should monitor the application and report back when reimbursement is received.
