The Middletown Springs Select Board voted to submit a bill for reimbursement after the highway foreman reported buying and installing five replacement tires for town equipment.
Staff member (S4) described the repair: "5 brand new tires, and were able to match those 5 up with another 1," and said he paid the bill and would seek reimbursement. Committee member (S1) moved to approve submitting the reimbursement request and said the board should also consider buying a generator to run pressure-washing equipment. S1 said the unit the town has been using is a $600 generator and offered to second the motion to purchase if the board agreed.
Board members voted in favor of submitting the reimbursement and discussed follow-up for the generator purchase. The foreman also reported finding a nearby hydraulic shop that fabricated a hose and fitting the same day, which should reduce downtime compared with traveling to Colchester for parts.
The board did not set a precise procurement timeline for the generator; members asked staff to include cost information in future packets so they can decide whether to buy the unit for town use.
