Camden County endorses New Jersey Immigrant Trust Act; public testimony urges passage

At the Dec. 11 meeting, public commenter Doug Seibert of Collingswood urged Camden County to support the New Jersey Immigrant Trust Act, telling the Board that "by adopting this resolution in support of the New Jersey Immigrant Trust Act Camden County is choosing our families, our neighbors, our businesses, and our children over oppression." Seibert said immigrant-trust policies enable residents to seek health care, report crimes and attend school without fear.
Resolution No. 83 — supporting passage of S672/A4987, the New Jersey State Immigrant Trust Act — was adopted as part of Resolutions 1–83 during a block vote. Director Cappelli acknowledged advocacy from Cooper River Indivisible and relayed a local contractor’s experience after recent ICE arrests to underscore the practical impact of immigration enforcement on local businesses and services. The block vote adopting Resolutions 1–83 passed on roll call; several commissioners recorded abstentions on specific items, but the Immigrant Trust Act resolution was included in the adopted block.
