The county's finance officer presented a standardized financial summary through May, listing current budget columns, year-to-date expenditures and encumbrances and a bank-balance snapshot. He reported, "So our cash on hand at the end of May of this year was $15,781.83," and noted approximately $1.5 million in certificates of deposit and other accounts. Staff stressed these are budgeted figures, not final audited numbers.
Several commissioners warned that the county's 2023–24 audit has not been completed and said that drawing from fund balance before audit completion would be imprudent. One commissioner stated, "We do not have an audit from 2324 yet," and urged caution about appropriating fund balance to cover compensation increases. The manager and finance officer said staff would prepare more-detailed reconciliations and an updated proposed ordinance for the board to review at the reconvened meeting.
